In the half-year since Zero-G Concerts kicked off at Mars Bar/Café Venus, the series has hosted 18 of the region‟s most adventurous purveyors of modern jazz, progressive rock, and unclassifiable instrumental music, playing some truly memorable sets. The series continues full steam ahead every third Thursday at Mars Bar with some of our tastiest lineups yet; artists scheduled to perform at press time include Eric Amrine, the Tom Baker Quartet, Diminished Men, Fundamental Forces, Dino Haak Collective, Moraine, Reptet, Sugar Skulls, Trimtab, and Wah Wah Exit Wound (details below).
Zero-G is also expanding with the launch of TransLucid, a new monthly series co-presented by Zero-G Concerts and LUCID Jazz Lounge that provides a forum for musicians whose work probes the boundaries of what is typically considered „jazz.‟ The free TransLucid events take place on the second Sunday of each month at the unusually reasonable hour of 7-9 p.m. (enough time for audience members to catch a stimulating show and still get a decent night‟s sleep) in the listener-friendly environs of LUCID, with its great food and beverage selection. The series kicks off on June 12 with a special collaboration between Seattle instrumental group Moraine, Korean wind virtuoso / UW Visiting Artist Young Sub Lee, and Northwest musical treasure Stuart Dempster.
