Zero-G Thursday 10.20: Batholith, Dissonati, Ask the Ages

BATHOLITH  (9 p.m.)

Plutonic improvised music for electric guitar, baritone electric guitar, acoustic bass, and drums, featuring Dennis Rea, the too-seldom-heard Ken Masters, Geoff Harper, and Stephen Cavit.

DISSONATI  (10 p.m.)

Dissonati is a 4-piece Seattle band that draws most of its inspiration from rock bands like King Crimson and early Genesis. The band mixes up its sets with a healthy dose of improv and compositions by band members. Dissonati is currently recording its first project for release by the end of 2011. Bill Bainbridge (bass), John Hagelbarger (keys and woodwinds), John Reagan (drums), Ron Rutherford (guitar)


Ask the Ages is a Seattle-based avant-jazz band. Formed in 2010, the group includes Greg Campbell (drums and percussion), Steven Bell (vibraphone ), Brian Heaney (electric guitar), Kate Olson (saxophone/woodwinds), and John Seman (bass) [Note: John Seman won’t be present at this show]. The band has also collaborated with an international cast of stellar musicians including Stuart Dempster, Matt Reid, Melissa Walsh, Archana Bennur, Bora Ju, and Dale Speicher. Among their influences are Sonny Sharrock, Sun Ra, Alice Coltrane, and Pharoah Sanders.
NOTE: Dino Haak Collective, originally scheduled to play this Zero-G date, were forced to postpone until early 2012 – stay tuned.
