The thriving TransLucid Concert Series presented by Zero-G moves to first Thursdays at Lucid Jazz Lounge starting in July and will now feature two different complementary acts in each edition.
The new schedule kicks off with a delectable double-bill of locals and visitors. Starting at 9 p.m. will be drummer extraordinaire Don Berman‘s new configuration Empty Boat, an outgrowth of his previous DB Gatherings at Cafe Racer. The group features saxophonist supreme Kate Olson, electric bass marvel Steve Kim, and guitarist Dennis Reaperforming jazz-tinged improvisations and wide-open interpretations of modern jazz tunes by the likes of Wayne Shorter and John McLaughlin.
Following at 10 p.m., we’re very pleased to welcome the impressive A Love Electric featuring Baja, Mexico-based guitarist Todd Clouser, who has ties to the local scene:“A Love Electric is possibility and energy. I come from a rock place as a player. I still love Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and the total madness in noise, even if I’m listening to Charlie Parker, Monk or Wayne Shorter more often these days. … On A Love Electric, I present real tunes with melodies and structure, but there’s freedom within the written parts to get back to having fun and screaming.”
Please join us in the welcoming environs of Lucid for another installment of vibrant creative music!
